  • Description

    A newer addition to their core denim lineup, the 1955Z is Sugar Cane's recreation of a pair of jeans from the mid 1950's. This period of time saw the switch from a standard button fly to a zipper, a move that was intended to target the fashion conscious denim buyers of the eastern United States. The brand outfits this pair with a period accurate GRIPPER ZIPPER, originally manufactured by Scovill. Other historical minutiae incorporated into this pair include an offset center back belt loop and belt loops cut from a denim that is lighter in weight than the fabric used for the rest of the garment. 

    The cut is similar to the brand's 1947, a roomy straight leg with a high rise and little taper, but the 1955Z uses a specially developed denim fabric, different than the 1947's, to remain as true to its inspiration as possible.
