Aero Leather was one of the most important A-2 jacket contractors of the late '30s and 1940s, responsible for more contracts, seven, than any other manufacturer. Buzz Rickson's, masters of military reproduction, offer this meticulous recreation of Aero's fifth A-2 production lot. Created in 1941, this is the first run to drop the earlier stand collar in favor of the familiar open neckline that would define later contracts. Aero’s construction details set it apart: the mirrored front panels created a balanced horizontal pocket line, though the spacing against the side seams gives the jacket its subtle asymmetry. The nearly rectangular pockets, narrow stitch lines, and ring-stud snap buttons all give the jacket a sharper, more utilitarian look that ages beautifully with wear. Most distinct of all, Aero was the only contractor to use red rib knits, a striking contrast against the dark seal brown leather, and a detail that has become an unmistakable hallmark of the company.
